It is now the end of September. Football season is back. The humidity is dropping to nearly 50% and the outdoor temps become a little cooler. Plus, the sun begins to set over the beach. During much of the year, the sun rises and sets north of 30-A and Miramar Beach. But, during the fall and winter months you can witness some of the most awesome sunsets over the Gulf of Mexico. Below you will find a short list of the best places to watch the sunset on 30-A.
Bud and Alley’s in Seaside
One thing that we take into consideration when making this list is atmosphere. Bud and Alleys is a local favorite, and provides an capacious menu of culinary treasures with a top notch wine and beverage list. Plus, the view is pretty good too. Bud and Alley’s sits right on the Gulf near Van Ness Butler Jr. Regional Beach Access and in the center of Seaside. During the fall, Seaside is typically bursting with activity to enjoy. After your day watching plays at the Amphitheater or exploring the shops and restaurants, head over to Bud and Alley’s and catch a breath taking sunset.
Shunk Gulley in Dune Allen
An upscale oyster bar with live music, TVs for football, a great wine and cocktail menu and a second floor deck where you can view the colors of fall over a 30-A sunset. Shunk Gulley is a relatively new addition to the 30-A family of restaurants but has quickly become a favorite destination for locals and visitors. Located directly across the street from Ed Walline Regional Beach Access, this place offers great views of the Gulf of Mexico and ribbons of fading sunlight as you enjoy the sunset with your favorite people. If you want to watch the sunset from the beach, you can always grab your food to go and sit at the observation tower just over the beach access at Ed Walline.
The Vue on Thirty A
Nestled between Ed Walline Regional Access and Dune Allen Regional Access, the Vue on 30-A is a local tradition. With exquisite seafood selections and a great cocktail list. Expect spectacular views from its outdoor or window side tables. Enjoy fresh caught seafood under the setting of the fall sun directly on the beach in 30-A. And, if you can’t get a seat by the window: enjoy the fantastic seafood menu and the company of your favorite people.
At a Beach Bonfire on 30-A
Excel Beach Service offers beach bonfire services all along 30-A and can provide you with the best seat in the house. What better way than next to a crackling fire with your favorite people. Directly on the white sand of South Walton. Expect belly laughs and old stories as you and yours enjoy the setting sun and the evening hours.
