With the warm weather close at hand, we are all eagerly awaiting beach season. Travelers from all over the globe will be flocking to South Walton and 30-A to enjoy time on our pristine beaches. With more and more people coming each year, public beach accesses are a must. Public beach accesses provide necessary space for those non-gulf front visitors and residents to access the Gulf. As such, the Walton County Board has purchased several parcels of land on the coast line for public use. This, includes a new beach access by Stinky’s Fish Camp – Dune Allen Regional Beach Access.
What We Know About the New Beach Access
While the full details of the access are not yet available, what we do know is that this beach access will have parking spaces for about 10 cars. Also, handicap accessibility with designated parking spots and an access ramp. Plus, public restrooms, bike racks and a life guard stand.
This project was approved, and contractor selected in the latter days of 2018. According to the contractor bid stipulations, the project has 120 days (approx 4 months) to complete once ground has been broken. But, as anyone who has been involved with construction projects can attest – especially in our Florida weather – it may run a little longer than that. Other sources claim the project may take 6 months to complete. So, for those of you eagerly anticipating this new beach access by Stinky’s Fish Camp – expect mid-summer at the earliest.
When this access opens, it will serve as a great access for neighborhoods surrounding Stinky’s restaurant, especially those along the Hilltop road community.
